History
The pan African Network, NetAfrica was originally an idea conceptualized by 4 leading African telecentre movement enthusiasts namely Poly Gaster - www.ciuem.mz, Sawadogo Malick- RECYCOM (http://www.recycom.org ) , Sulah Ndaula -Ugabytes – www.ugabytes.org and Aminata Maiga – AFRIKLINKS started discussions with various Telecentre Networks representatives from across Africa to deliberate and concretize on the idea forming a continental telecentre network for Africa whose main objective is to Expand and consolidate the existing formal and informal regional and other networks in Africa and include emerging networks across the continent in order to facilitate and encourage sustainable collaborative activities and help national telecentre networks and their members thrive.
It is with great gratitude that NetAfrica team wishes to thank Telecentre.org for supporting the first ever African Telecentre Networks meeting to discuss and share about the noble idea of forming a pan African network. A meeting hosted by Rwanda Telecentre Network (www.rtnrwanda.org ) in Kigali Rwanda saw the formation of the network which is now steered by a committee of 10.
