More than 20 telecentre stakeholders from approximately 17 countries gathered in Barcelona, Spain last March 5 to participate in the Regional Telecentre Network Leaders Meeting organized by Telecentre.org Foundation (TCF). The meeting, which was declared “a first” by TCF Chairman of the Board Akhtar Badshah in his Welcome Address, sought to bring together representatives of the six regional telecentre networks to identify and discuss areas of collaboration with TCF and among networks in the coming months and beyond.

In addition to the core meeting and workshop areas, the Barcelona program also included: the 8th TCF Board of Trustees Meeting and a Recognition Ceremony for Ester Collado, winner of the Most Outstanding Telecentre Woman Manager distinction for the Europe region. The award, which was announced last December 2011 is one of the awards bestowed under the Global Search competition sponsored by the Telecentre Women: Digital Literacy Campaign.

The meeting concluded on March 7 with preliminary discussions on the 4th Global Forum on Telecentres, targeted to take place in Europe in early 2013, followed by a visit to Citilab, a social and digital innovation hub in Cornellà de Llobregat, Barcelona.
